Rome First Day!

You get two posts today because we were sooo tired yesterday

November 4th

Rome! The eternal city! First stop, Roma San Pietro train station and a short walk to the Vatican. What an amazing place! The Pope was out and about and we got to see him as well. Then off to the Vatican Museum and the Sistine chapel. Some amazing rooms with painting by some of the greatest renaissance masters. The Sistine Chapel was all that it has been made out to be. Glorious paintings and in such great shape. Then we went to St Peters basilica. I cannot describe in words how beautiful it is. And Michaelangelos Pieta is. All in all Iwe found the Vatican to be absolutely amazing! Then an expresso and ashort bus ride to the Victor Emmanuels’ monument and a short walk past one side of the Forum and to the Coliseum. Incredible at night! A short metro ride back to the station and the train back with Citivechia and our ship!

One of the rooms in the Vatican leading to the Sistine Chapel, each more gorgeous than the last.

The Coliseum at night, just before we were heading home.

St Peters Square with the Basilica in the background

Interior of St Peters, very beautiful building, and HUGE
